My 1st OBGYN appointment after getting a positive pregnancy test result was in July. There, they did another pregnancy test to confirm the pregnancy. They did other tests/blood work up as well to make sure my hormone levels were healthy and to see if there was any infections that needed to be taken care of.

Thankfully, all my results were good.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t perform a sonogram that day, because the doctor said it was too early and that I wouldn’t be able to see anything.

So I made another appointment 2 weeks later during my 7th week of pregnancy for my 1st sonogram.

During my 1st sonogram appointment, I was both anxious and excited. Unfortunately, Hubby couldn’t join me that day becauase he couldn’t get time off of work.

As I was laying on the examination table. I was eagerly watching the screen along with the doctor as she moved the sonogram device over my lower stomach. I saw 2 white opaque ovals in the middle of the screen. And before my doctor could even say it, I already knew. We were having twins. I could no tstop smirking to myself. All I kept thinking was ‘Hubby got exactly what he wanted’. Because all he kept talking about was wanting twins. And now Allah SWT has blessed us both with the gift of twins, Masha’Allah.

I remember waiting for Hubby to ocome home from work that dayto tell him the big news. I thought about how I wanted to trick him a little before revealing the twins. So I came up with the perfect script for myself. I was going to start by saying that a sonogram picture shows a baby and a placenta in it. I figured he wouldn’t really know what to expect to see in a sonogram picture, so he’d be gullable enough to fall for it. I wanted him to be tricked into thinking that ome of the 2 white ovals is a baby and the other is the placenta. And then I was planning to point to one of them and say “this is the baby” and then point to the other oval and say “and this is the other baby!” And that way he’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I asked him to sit next to me on the bed and began narrating to him the script I put together in my head. But before I got the chance to point to the 2nd oval, Hubby cuts me off and says “wait are they twins?!?!” And so I couldn’t trick him. My plans failed.

When I answered “yes” to his question, his eyes just lit up! He was over the moon, just beyond exstatic. He flipped back on the bed as though he was so happy he didn’t know what to do with himself. It was like nothing could take that glee off his face, Masha’Allah.

And honestly, it was really nice for me to see. I was glad he was getting what he wanted, Alhamdulillah. I have’t seen him this happy a nd excited in a long time. And I truely believe he deserves it.

I know I probably didn’t give him enough credit, but at that point in our relationship, he really had shown a tremendous effort in trying to be a better man and a better husband, especially in the last 6 months of trying to get pregant.

While I sat there watching him happily carrying on to himself, nonstop smiling from ear to ear, I kept thanking Allah SWT for granting him this wish. And for allowing him to have this moment of pure and high spirits, Alhamdulillah!
